VARIOUS CHEMICALS USE IN PAINT PRODUCTION AND THEIR FUNCTIONS.

1. Water : Consist of 40 percent in the production of water base paints.

2. Bermadol : This is dispersant in water base paint.

3. Titan : This what gives opacity or coverage in paint depending on the colour.

Titan also represent white colour in paint production.

4. Calcium : This is the body of the paint. It aids in increasing it volume.

5. Omya : This is a filler calcium. It compliment Titan and work as plasticizer.

6. Natrosol : Is use to increase the thickness in paint.

7.  Deformer : This is anti- forming. 

8. Biocide : This is a preservative that helps to increase or extend the shelve life  of the paint.

9. Ammonia : This is catalyst  that help in the quick dispersion of chemiclas in the paint.

10. E.P.W Paste : This is an out preservative that helps to prevent algae and bacterial in the building.

11. Calgon : Helps to harden the paints like texture to make it have excellent grib on wall and also help to dilute the colour. 

12.Mabble dust : This is smooth stone dust that helps in given  the paint a smooth texture finish.

13. Acrylic : This is the binder.

14. Stone dust: This is the stone that helps in forming the design pattern on Gravitex with the use of floating trowel.

15. Genepol :  Does excellent leveling and prevents pigments from long -term storage settling. It is also intriduce in paint to assist it spreading.

16. Pigments/Colourant: This gives the colour and provide body to the paints. 

E.G Pastes and Oxides, Titanium dioxide.

NOTE: Paste are colours use for interiors, while Oxides are colours use for Exteriors.

17. Kaolin also gives body to the paint, it compliment titan in water base paint.

18. Anti-Form is same as defoamer.. 

in absent of deformer, Kerosene should be introduced
